Council of Members

The Council of Members is the supreme body of the Union. It comprises the Officers (President, First Deputy President and Secretary General), Deputy Presidents, Past-Presidents and World Congress Secretary or Secretaries of the Union, as well as one representative from each member not otherwise represented on the Council. It determines the general policy and affairs of the Union and it is convened every two years, at the biennial World Congresses. Meetings of the Council of Members are chaired by the President of the Union.

Executive Committee

The Executive Committee is responsible for implementing the policy set by the Council of Members and for overseeing the administrative affairs of the Union. The Committee comprises the President of the Union, up to ten Deputy Presidents, no more than twenty members (of which no more than three shall come from the same country) and the Secretary General.

Nominating Committee

The Nominating Committee is created immediately after the election of a new President. It has the responsibility of recommending, when appropriate, to the Council of Members or to the Executive Committee candidates for the offices of President, Deputy Presidents, Secretary General and World Congress Secretary. The Committee comprises the President and four other members of the Council of Members, from different countries, chosen by the President.

Cas Coovadia

President

Cas Coovadia took up his position as the current President of the International Union for Housing Finance following the 27th World Congress (in 2008) and his mandate runs until end of the 28th World Congress. Cas Coovadia is the Managing Director of the Banking Association South Africa.

Hartwig Hamm

Secretary General

Hartwig Hamm took up his position as the current Secretary General of the International Union for Housing Finance on 1 November 2011. Hartwig Hamm is also the Managing Director of the Association of Public German Bausparkassen (LBS/Germany) and Second Vice-President of the European Federation of Building Societies (EFBS).
